The largest infrastructure investment completed in the municipality of Mikołajki to upgrade and modernise infrastructure on the Great Mazurian Lakes waterways.
The new wharf includes a reconstructed 1,526 meters of quay with an extension two meters deep into the water, construction of two public fixed piers in reinforced concrete, eight permanent wooden piers and five new public floating piers with reinforced concrete pontoons.
In addition, two social buildings and four rest sheds were developed with a total size of around 2,000 m3. New road surfaces with a total surface area of 11,454 m2 were also created along the entire length of the wharves.
This project introduced modern standards to the Great Mazurian Lakes route. It introduced new buildings in which people can pay for port services using an application on their phone and it established places for boats, walking terraces, stalls, shaded areas and a mini beach for use by local communities.
Designed removed barriers for disabled people and on the edge of the quay, warning strips for the blind and visually impaired have been put in place, while walkers can find information boards in Braille.
