The largest net zero congress for the MENA region is taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia this October.
Leading sustainability event brand, Innovation Zero, is coming to Riyadh on 14-15 October 2025 with the launch of its MENA Congress. The event, which connects leaders of the future economy, will explore decarbonisation across multiple sectors including environment, energy and industry, circular carbon economy, finance, advanced technologies and cities and infrastructure.
It’s the ideal time for Innovation Zero to visit Saudi Arabia. The ambitious Vision 2020 project, launched in 2016, leverages the Kingdom’s unique strengths – its pivotal role in the Arab and Islamic worlds, its strong investment capabilities and its strategic geographical position. Vision 2030 is a blueprint that is diversifying the economy, empowering citizens, creating a vibrant environment for both local and international investors and establishing Saudi Arabia as a global leader.
The Vision is designed to unfold in stages, each lasting five years and building on the last. The first phase set the foundation, implementing structural and comprehensive reforms in the public sector, the economy and society. The second phase of Vision 2030 has accelerated efforts, providing an enhanced focus on strategies, as well as further investments in key sectors and ambitious projects. This has yielded tangible results across the country. The third phase will focus on sustaining the transformation’s impact and leveraging new growth opportunities. Sustainability and a core commitment to improving the environment form a central part of Vision 2030 and Innovation Zero will be providing a key forum for discussing the issues that matter in Riyadh in October.
A combination of projects in the MENA region are set to significantly reduce impacts across the energy value chain and beyond. The Vision 2030 projects include some very specific thinking on lower carbon energy generation through renewables, associated vectors, carbon capture and energy efficiency to reduce industrial footprints and complementary projects to reduce societal energy use and increase natural sequestration. This is all in the context of building better communities and natural environments for society to enjoy, which are key components of creating an inclusive energy transition.
Innovation Zero MENA Congress will discuss how the gulf states resources and vision provide a unique platform to help the global energy transition, particularly in some of the harder to abate sectors. The plentiful supply of reliable solar and wind, strong financial foundations and their strategic location at the intersection of three continents can help them change the availability and economics of emerging technologies making a big contribution to the global energy transition.
As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s goals to reduce carbon emissions by 278 mtpa by 2030 and hit net zero by 2060, Saudi Arabia has activated more than 80 initiatives to help reach the three Saudi Green Initiative targets of reducing emissions, greening Saudi and protecting land and sea. As a result, there will be much to discuss and talk about at the event in October. As Saudi Arabia embarks on one of the world’s most ambitious economic transformations, fuelled by innovation and technology, it is the perfect host for this event, providing an unparalleled platform to connect, collaborate and lead the change.
Innovation Zero MENA Congress is set to provide a unique opportunity for solution providers across the MENA region to engage positively and proactively with a rapidly evolving market and drive real impact on a global scale. The congress will take a wide-ranging and connected approach which breaks down industry and sector silos, by offering a dynamic platform for leaders and changemakers across diverse industries to unite. The event features an extensive content programme across a number of key themes including environment, energy and industry, circular carbon economy, finance, advanced technologies and cities and infrastructure.
