Leading advocacy organisation for transparency in infrastructure makes key board appointment.
CoST, the Infrastructure Transparency Initiative, one of the leading global non-profits improving transparency, participation and accountability in infrastructure has appointed engineering expert James Mwangi to its board as international private sector representative.
Mwangi is the CEO of Kurrent Technologies Ltd, a consultancy firm that serves East and Central Africa and also vice president of FIDIC, the International Federation of Consulting Engineers. He has almost 40 years of experience in the energy, oil and gas sectors including at the Kenya Private Sector Alliance, Petroleum Institute of East Africa and Energy Institute. He is also a fellow in the Institution of Engineers of Kenya.
Petter Matthews, executive director of CoST, said: “James has a wealth of experience and his detailed knowledge of infrastructure and particularly the corruption risks faced by the private sector makes him a tremendous asset to the board. FIDIC is an important strategic partner and James will further strengthen the relationship between the two organisations.”
Mwangi replaces DT Global International Development chairman Gavin English as international private sector representative on the CoST board. CoST chair Chrik Poortman said: “Gavin was an extremely competent and diligent representative of the private sector. He was also unfailingly likeable and good-humoured and he will be missed by everyone involved in CoST.”
James Mwangi joins CoST as the organisation begins the development of a new business plan for 2025-2026. A CosT spokesperson said: “We are hugely ambitious and James will help us develop a plan to translate that ambition into achievable objectives, remaining true to our principles whilst realising them in an increasingly challenging global environment.”
