Mr San Basilio, a Spanish national, will take up his new role in September 2021.
Carlos San Basilio has been appointed the new Managing Director, Corporate Strategy, at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
Mr San Basilio joins the EBRD from his current position as secretary general of the Treasury Department of the Ministry of Finance in Spain. Before that he served as a financial counsellor of Spain at the European Union in Brussels.
“It is a privilege to be joining the EBRD, an institution with the ambitious and motivating mandate of fostering the transition towards open market-oriented economies, applying the principles of multiparty democracy,” said Mr San Basilio.
While he has spent more than a decade working for the Spanish government, Mr San Basilio has experience in the private sector too, having previously held roles at Banco Santander and the London Exchange Group.
He holds a degree in economics from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and a master’s in public administration from Harvard.
