
HNIT becomes part of Artelia, strengthening the group’s position in the Nordic market.
International consulting engineering group Artelia has acquired HNIT Consulting Engineers in Iceland. Through the acquisition, Artelia further confirms its position as one of Europe’s leading engineering companies.
The acquisition is part of Artelia’s strategy to build a strong base in the Nordic market. With the addition of HNIT in Iceland, the Nordics business unit is strengthened, enabling it to offer clients in the Nordic countries full-service consulting in the classic engineering disciplines combined with expertise in various fields.
HNIT Consulting Engineers located in Reykjavík, brings more than 50 years of experience in civil engineering in Iceland with a team of 40 dedicated employees who now become part of the Artelia Group. For HNIT, this means new opportunities and the chance to participate in larger and more complex projects globally.
HNIT is known for its expertise in urban planning, structural design, road and highway design, as well as project management and construction supervision. The company has extensive experience in projects, both in the heart of Reykjavik as well in other parts of the country, often requiring complex logistics.
Their engineers have provided supervision and management for large hydropower plants such as Karahnjukar and Budarhals, including dams, tunnels and all concrete and steel structures. HNIT is also a trusted partner for the municipal authorities in Iceland and has a skilled and experienced team to handle complex and challenging constructions.
HNIT and Artelia have already had close cooperation, especially with the BRT project in Reykjavik and this partnership has strengthened their ties and laid the groundwork for a shared future.
HNIT becomes part of Artelia’s Business Unit Nordics which consists of Artelia Denmark as the head of the business unit and the Norwegian company Dr.techn. Olav Olsen in Norway.
