New office presence in Milan set to drive Italian growth in key markets.

Global professional services business Turner & Townsend is expanding into Italy as new real estate opportunities come forward.

Carlo Vittorio Matildi has been appointed to lead the set up and expansion as country managing director for Italy, bringing his talent and long experience in the region. Matildi previously worked with Turner & Townsend in the UK and China for seven years before returning to Italy to lead the family consultancy business.

Turner & Townsend’s expansion into Italy will support new client wins in real estate and will position the firm in growth markets where it hopes to leverage its global expertise. The Milan location is the company’s 19th office in Europe, as part of a global footprint of 112 offices.

Turner & Townsend has successfully delivered major projects in the Italian market for a number of years, particularly focused on the corporate and office, data centre, industrial and logistics and automotive retail sectors. This includes the Swiss Embassy refurbishment, ongoing work with Nissan, as well as data centre and logistics projects for multinational clients.

The firm says that the expansion into Italy signals its confidence and strategic intent to help its clients and partners to thrive as the new operating environment unfolds in the post-Covid-19 economy.

Paul Grace, regional managing director for Europe at Turner & Townsend, said: “The expansion of our European business with a permanent base in Milan reflects our commitment to the country. As a business we welcome the opportunity for growth and to further leverage our global experience to deliver excellent service to our new and existing Italian clients.

“From Milan, our business operations in Italy will be spearheaded by Carlo Vittorio Matildi, who brings a wealth of industry experience. We look forward to this new chapter where we can drive forward our work with our growing client base.”

Carlo Vittorio Matildi, country managing director for Italy at Turner & Townsend, said: “I’m delighted to re-join Turner & Townsend to lead operations in Italy. I am confident that with market investment acceleration, our talent pool, vision and delivery expertise will effectively support investment plans of our existing and new clients.

“The business is recognised throughout Europe and the world for its excellence and the technical leadership of its services. The new Milan office provides a base from which to support clients and opens up business opportunities that fully leverage the depth and breadth of Turner & Townsend’s capabilities.”
