Royal HaskoningDHV appoints two corporate directors

Two new senior appointments at Royal HaskoningDHV will help to strengthen the company’s leadership and drive strategic priorities.

Royal HaskoningDHV has appointed Bas van Heumen as finance director and Björn Erkens as director operational excellence and risk management.

Commenting on the appointments, CEO Marije Hulshof said: “I am excited to welcome Bas and Björn. With their proven track record, they will strengthen our team, helping us drive our strategic priorities. Björn has a lot of experience in project, contract and risk management. This combined with his ambition to contribute to our purpose of Enhancing Society Together, makes him a great fit to lead the operational excellence and risk management team. And he’s known for creating one way of working.”

Royal HaskoningDHV chief finance officer Jasper de Wit commented: “Bas comes from our own ranks, bringing a wealth of experience in finance and being a trusted advisor. He will help to create financial strategies and improve our global financial operations.”

Commenting on his new role, van Heumen said: “I am excited about stepping into this more strategic global role. It matches my dedication to drive our strategic goals and enhance organisational effectiveness. I am particularly looking forward to continuing working with our talented finance team to build on their potential to be great business partners and drive continuous improvement.”

I aim to further improve project management, with the goal of enabling Royal HaskoningDHV to make an even greater positive impact on the world through its projects.”

Erkens joins Royal HaskoningDHV from KH Engineering where he has held operational and strategy development roles and was responsible for managing the company’s risk profile and one way of working. As director operational excellence and risk management he succeeds David Conneely who has decided to pursue his career outside Royal HaskoningDHV.

Van Heumen, who began his career at PwC, joined Royal HaskoningDHV in 2009 as manager reporting and analytics. In July 2012 he became director group accounting and in September 2019 he became director financial control.
