In western Guangdong, this expressway serves six million residents, making a great contribution to local living conditions, poverty eradication and industrial opportunities.
The Expressway is 130km long, including over 40km of bridges and 11.6km of tunnels through terrain that includes mountains, deep valleys, crushed zone geology, landslides and environmentally sensitive zones.
After opening the road, connectivity and living conditions along the corridor have improved. Travel times have reduced by one hour and the cumulative saving of fuel is estimated to be can be 1.37billion litres throughout its 20-year operation.
The expressway has also secured 2,500 jobs for the communities along the corridor, increased regional GDP by $1.82bn and increased per capital income by 20.8%.
