Maintenance and rehabilitation of Yreem streets

Local community funding revives roads as the crisis in Yemen, unauthorised use and delayed repair work had left then in poor condition.

This project represented a new concept applied within Yemen, with the main financier for it being local community contribution because of the lack of financial provision in the country because of the war and crisis situation.

The region faces many of difficulties and obstacles, including mobilising project staff from across the community and collecting and transport the minimum level of machinery and equipment without any fees except for transportation costs.

Within three months of works the community had launched five percent of the works with a minimum rate of costs and at that time, five governorates in the country started to follow suit.
