Lanzhou Urban Rail Transit Line 1

A total length of 25.909 km and 20 stations. In its first two years after opening, more than 200,000 passenger trains have been run.

With an average daily passenger volume of over 161,600, the line ranks first in passenger flow intensity of any single-line metro cities in China.

The completion of the project raises the proportion of public transportation and optimises the transportation network in the “wasp waist” section of the Cultural Palace part of the center of Lanzhou, where the project diverts 33.8% of passenger flow.

As the first across-the-Yellow-River rail transit project in China, it crosses the river four times, amid thick sandy pebble and tertiary fine siltstone. It does so while respecting the environment and local heritage. The project’s route selection avoided the local water source protection area, the mosque and the ancient site of the Great Wall. Vibration damping measures were also taken.
