Seismic and earthquake engineering specialists joins engineering and design consulting company IMEG.
IMEG has announced the strategic addition of WRK Engineers, a leading structural and seismic engineering firm based in Vancouver, Canada. This partnership significantly strengthens IMEG’s seismic engineering capabilities while expanding its portfolio of specialised services, reinforcing its commitment to delivering innovative, community-resilient design solutions nationwide.
Founded in 2010, WRK Engineers has rapidly built a reputation for advancing the science of seismic engineering. The firm specialises in seismic risk reduction, offering in-depth seismic evaluations, advanced structural analysis, retrofit design and resiliency planning for critical infrastructure and essential facilities.
In addition, WRK brings a proven track record in owner’s representative/construction manager services, along with extensive experience as the prime design consultant leading multidisciplinary project design teams on behalf of owners. The team also provides comprehensive grant writing services that have helped clients secure nearly $100m in project funding over the past five years, demonstrating a commitment to turning vision into reality by aligning technical excellence with financial strategy.
IMEG president and CEO Paul VanDuyne said: “WRK Engineers brings an exceptional depth of expertise in seismic and earthquake engineering, which is an immediate and strategic value-add to IMEG. Their advanced capabilities in seismic risk evaluation and retrofit design, along with their success as a trusted client advocate and funding resource, are highly complementary to IMEG’s multidisciplinary approach. This partnership allows us to deliver even more robust and resilient engineering solutions, particularly in regions vulnerable to seismic events.”
WRK Engineers’ experience spans a broad range of sectors including housing, healthcare, education, water/wastewater and utilities, many of which require specialized seismic analysis to meet stringent safety and performance standards. Their portfolio includes risk assessments for essential service facilities, seismic retrofit designs for historic and aging structures and performance-based engineering solutions tailored to community and client needs.
“We are excited to join IMEG and extend our impact on seismic safety and structural resilience at a national level,” said Brian Knight, president of WRK Engineers. “Our team is passionate about advancing earthquake engineering practices. This partnership enables us to scale that impact, access new resources and deliver innovative, value-driven solutions to a broader range of clients and communities,” said Knight.
Knight will serve as client executive for the team, continuing operations from Vancouver, under the name “WRK Engineers, now IMEG.” He will remain at the helm of the team alongside the existing WRK staff, ensuring continuity of service and a seamless transition for clients.
