Sustainable cargo transportation system, HyperPort, beats off 11,000 entries to win key iF Design Award.

Innovative transportation technology company HyperloopTT has won the prestigious ‘iF Design Award’ for ‘professional concept’ for its sustainable cargo transportation system, HyperPort.

HyperPort, which is capable of increasing capacity and efficiency for cargo and freight whilst decreasing pollution and congestion at ports worldwide, consists of the design of an electric-powered cargo transportation system, autonomous electric trucks and hyperloop capsules. It is being developed in partnership with terminal operator Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA ) and design and innovation consultancy Mormedi.

The prestigious ‘iF’ accolade has long signified exceptional design, for both consumers and the design community since it was first created in Germany in 1953. This year, 132 high-profile design experts from over 20 countries made up the iF jury panel, which evaluated winners based on criterion of idea, form, function, differentiation and impact. The competition was intense, with almost 11,000 entries submitted from 57 countries in the hope of winning a prize.

HyperloopTT worked with global design and strategy company Mormedi to design and visualise the HyperPort system. Andres De Leon, CEO of HyperloopTT, said: “HyperPort is a sustainable, high-speed cargo and freight solution fit for the modern age. We are delighted to be recognised by the creative minds at iF Design and we want to thank our partners HHLA and Mormedi for their detailed approach to the designs, models, and optimisations that have helped bring the HyperPort concept to life.”

HyperloopTT is an innovative transportation and technology company focused on realising the hyperloop, a system that moves people and goods safely, efficiently and sustainably by bringing airplane speeds to the ground. Through the use of unique, patented technology and an advanced collaborative business model, HyperloopTT is creating the first new form of transportation in over a century.

HyperloopTT’s European Research and Development Centre in Toulouse, France, the aerospace capital of Europe, is home to the world’s first and only full-scale test system.
