The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies of Canada (ACEC) is 100 years old this year and is highlighting the milestone with an array of initiatives and events.

This year, ACEC-Canada proudly celebrates its centennial. They are marking the landmark occasion with a National Leadership Conference and a special centennial dinner along on 22 October 2025 together with a suite of events during the week that will highlight a proud 100 years of ACEC’s history and the key achievements of the consulting engineering industry in shaping a better Canada and a better world.

ACEC has also been hard at work in developing two engaging online and interactive showcases to celebrate its centennial and they are keen to share them with the global infrastructure community.

A digital presentation that chronicles the history of Canada’s consulting engineering industry and the evolution of the association over the past century is available on the ACEC website. It highlights the origins of ACEC, which began over 100 years ago, with a vision to unite and elevate the consulting engineering profession in Canada. From humble beginnings, ACEC has grown into a cornerstone of the industry.

John Gamble, president and CEO of ACEC Canada, said: “Throughout the decades, ACEC has been at the forefront of monumental changes and has witnessed the rise of groundbreaking technologies, the transformation of urban landscapes and the development of sustainable practices that have reshaped our world. Our members have played pivotal roles in iconic projects, from the construction of major infrastructure to the advancement of environmental engineering. We invite people to explore the rich tapestry of our history and our Centennial Timeline allows you to delve into the stories, achievements, and evolution of ACEC and the consulting engineering industry.”

As part of the celebrations, ACEC has also developed an interactive Google Map highlighting landmark projects designed and delivered by Canadian consulting engineering firms over the past 100 years. Its 100 Impacts for 100 Years Campaign offers a celebration of the remarkable contributions of consulting engineering firms over the past century.

As part of its centennial festivities, ACEC invited its member firms to submit details of projects or initiatives that have made a significant impact on the industry and communities across Canada. “Our goal was to showcase the vital role of consulting engineering in Canada and the profound impact our member firms have had on the industry,” said John Gamble.

“Launched in March, the submission process has been a journey of discovery and pride as ACEC member firms shared their entries, highlighting the transformative projects and initiatives that have shaped communities, driven innovation and set industry standards. We are thrilled to recognise these projects and initiatives that have not only advanced engineering practices but have also left a lasting legacy on the communities they serve,” Gamble said.
