New appointment to assist Aurecon as it looks to increase its market share in the energy sector in Asia.

Energy project finance and M&A specialist Marcel Ivison has joined Aurecon as its market director of energy for Southeast Asia. Based in Singapore, Ivison’s appointment is a key part of the company’s ongoing investment and growth strategy in the region.

Aurecon’s Blueprint to 2025 has identified the growth of Asia and the energy, water and advisory business to capitalise on the growing demand for cleaner energy. With a growing focus on energy security, transition and sustainability driving the demand for clean energy in Asia, the renewable energy market in the region presents promising opportunities for the business and the appointment of Ivison is expected to help Aurecon realise those opportunities.

With over 30 years of international experience in energy project finance and M&A, Ivison has held key roles at various international commercial and investment banks, as well as Fortune 500 industrial energy companies. He has served as financial advisor and lead arranger to a number of Asian & EMEA governments, along with major private sector listed companies across energy, renewables, infrastructure and transportation sectors.

Prior to joining Aurecon, Ivison was the head of capital markets and corporate Asia at IQ-EQ and before that, he was head of M&A renewables and project finance for Asia at ENGIE Group, the French multinational utility company. He has also worked as senior advisor for strategy, project and M&A in John Laing International and held senior leadership positions in project finance and renewables at global banks such as HSBC, Barclays, SMBC, Standard Chartered, Credit Suisse and Macquarie.

The world’s energy markets are undergoing a significant shift, marked by a global trend to reduce carbon emissions. This shift is driving more clients towards exploring innovative ways to transition to sustainable energy sources and enhance infrastructure efficiencies. Given the substantial growth potential in the energy and renewables sector in Asia, Aurecon has recognised the need to strengthen its expertise and capabilities.

Ivison will lead Aurecon Group’s energy segment in Southeast Asia and help to expand the company’s regional client base, working closely with Corey Monk, group director, brand, marketing and communications at Aurecon and other leaders across Asia to design and manage energy-related projects, proactively planning for the company’s sustained growth in a dynamic and promising sector.
