A transfer hub for Metro Lines 5, 7 and 8 with the tunnels of Lines 7 and 8 under-crossing the Yangtze River.
The hub integrates a metro station with river-crossing shield tunnel, benefiting 9.51 million passengers and creating 1,000+ jobs. It involved the state-of-art joint construction so as to make use of the urban road and the tunnel under-crossing the Yangtze River.
This project is also the deepest open-cut underground station on the Yangtze Riverside, where joint leak of super-deep diaphragm retaining walls has been solved, with zero accidents across the whole construction. The result is a large-span, high-clearance and comfortable underground space.
A new-style reverse operation method of “first reverse then consequent operation and then dismantling” was taken for the first time and traditional internal support by concrete has been substituted by a station structural slab to reduce concrete slag by 5,969m3.
The project also involved a successful green building, noise reduction, energy conservation and low carbon environment-friendly construction approach. And its two-point mechanical positioning method for concrete filled steel tubular column was developed and thus the traditional steel sleeve was eliminated for green installation, and 2,576-tons of steel was saved.
The Project, by making full use of odd pieces of metro land for property development, not only made effective use of urban land resources, but also created 500,000 square meters’ high-quality high-rise buildings near the metro station so as to realize the metro’s own sustainable development.
