Unit 3 Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant

The second stage of the implementation of a larger Tianwan NPP project being built on the coast of the Yellow Sea, 30km from Lianyungang, Jiangsu province, China.

This projects was based on the Russian AES-91 design with VVER-1000 reactor, and was implemented in tight cooperation between JSC ASE EC (Russia) and Jiangsu Nuclear Power Corporation (JNPC, China).

Incredible levels of transparent co-operation were required between the two organisations. JSC ASE EC was responsible for the design of and equipment manufacturing and supply for the Nuclear Island, and was in charge of interface management. JNPC designed Conventional Island and was responsible for the entire construction, with supervision from JSC ASE EC.

JNPC was also involved in and had an opportunity to set additional checks and controls at Nuclear Island design stage and during the manufacturing and testing of the Nuclear Island equipment.
