Self-sustaining, with ergonomic and automated lines, productive flexibility, efficient logistic design and ready for expansion, this new factory doubles the annual production of the Moura Group.
This new plant gathered information on 2,000 improvements in the processes, based on the experiences of the other six industrial units of the Moura group, spanning 6,000 employees across of the company – which in turn fed into conception, development and implementation of the plant.
Baterias Moura, has a big impact on employment availability and life quality. This project expands presence of Baterias Moura, consolidates its positioning on market and improves opportunities for local people.
The project included involved Instituto de Tecnologia Edson Mororó Moura (ITEMM), the only Institute of Science and Technology in Brazil with an exclusive focus on research and development of systems of Accumulation of energy.
The new unit also consolidated the position of Belo Jardim, 180 kilometers from the capital of Pernambuco, Recife, as a productive pole and the largest centre of knowledge and skilled labour in the production of batteries in South America.
In just under 12 months from the start of the project, the first batteries were under production.
The new plant has an individual system for the collection and use of rainwater, making it self-sustaining, contributing to the water balance of a semi-arid region that has lived for centuries with long periods of drought. Also implemented were a set of solutions to reduce energy consumption (new equipment, natural lighting coupled with LED lamps) and a rigorous work of reducing the emissions of pollutants.
