Dong Tru bridge crossing Duong river connects Long Bien and Dong Anh districts as part of the Highway No. 5 Extension Project.
Designed at a scale suitable for both the immediate period and the future. With the total width of the bridge at the concrete-filled steel tube main arch’s position is 54.5m, making it the bridge with the widest cross-section in the country at the moment.
During the implementation of this project, the design consultant applied new technical solutions, utilised new software along with common structural analysis software for local analysing, stabilizing the structure and ensuring its safety.
The successful design and construct of Dong Tru bridge has opened up research and development of concrete-filled steel tube arch bridges with high aesthetic.
Following Dong Tru Bridge, similar models have been applied to Rach Chiec 2 bridge, Ben Tuong bridge and Hoang Van Thu bridge.
If the bridges that were built previously in Hanoi city such as Thang Long, Vinh Tuy, Thanh Tri and Chuong Duong only meet the transport capacity, Dong Tru bridge gies further and creates a highlight on the landscape and architecture in the Northeast of Hanoi City with a beautiful open-air superstructure.
