Reclaiming six hectares of land from the sea, resulting in a 3% increase in the surface area of the principality of Monaco on which a new eco-district christened Mareterra will be built.
This new district includes 60,000 m2 of private housing and luxury shops, public facilities, a marina with a 30-berth capacity, a 1-ha landscaped park, a seafront promenade, and the extension of the Grimaldi Forum.
The project’s marine infrastructure creates a water-protected platform meeting the functional programme criteria in terms of urban planning, and technical and environmental performance.
Particular attention was paid to the conservation of the biodiversity, with the Larvotto reserve and the Spélugues coral reef both close to the site. The planned eco-district will thus benefit from recognised environmental certifications such as HQE Development, BREEAM and the Clean Port Label.
