Sustainable infrastructure investors Argo Energy enters the rooftop solar market.
Argo Energy (Argo), one of the leading renewable developers in Korea, has entered the rooftop solar market with an initial acquisition of a 10MW portfolio through a strategic partnership with one of the leading developers in the market. The portfolio comprises fully operational rooftop solar assets, each supported by long-term offtake agreements with leading and well-established industrial clients recognised for their ESG leadership.
The acquisition represents the first phase of Argo’s broader strategy to develop a sizeable rooftop solar portfolio in Korea, with additional pipeline projects currently being developed with the local developer. In addition to securing stable operating assets, the transaction underscores how onsite solar installations can deliver tangible value to industrial customers, reducing long-term electricity costs while supporting their decarbonisation goals.
Backed by deep development expertise, institutional capital and a disciplined approach to execution, Argo is well positioned as a trusted partner to both industrial energy users and local developers. The company offers scalable onsite renewable solutions tailored to corporate energy transition strategies and aims to actively support companies pursuing RE100 and other sustainability commitments.
Donguk Jo, CEO of Argo Energy, said: “This rooftop solar acquisition marks a significant milestone in our mission to accelerate Korea’s renewable energy transition. Since our establishment, Argo Energy has been at the forefront of Korea’s renewable energy expansion and today we are one of the most active and comprehensive renewable developers in the Korean market.”
Tareq Sirhan, head of energy, North Asia, at sustainable infrastructure investors Actis, commented: “Korea needs more renewable energy and it’s great to see Argo Energy play its role by ramping up solar generation, this time through this acquisition and entry into the rooftop solar market. The industrial and commercial sector in Korea increasingly understands the benefits of clean power, to both reduce costs and decarbonise. Argo is working to help meet that demand.”
